Illuminating the Future of Smart Cities

The KAUST Photonics Lab led the KACST TIC's $13M (SAR 50M) R&D effort with KACST researchers and faculty from KAUST, KFUPM, KAU, Effat University, and UCSB (2013-2021). The TIC generated patents and impactful research in semiconductors, optoelectronics, and laser applications. It trained personnel in cutting-edge technologies, advanced localization efforts, and supported startups in the Kingdom, continuing its impact beyond the sponsorship period.
