Letter from the President Jean-Lou Chameau

As we enter our eighth year, our enduring values of discovery and innovation continue to guide our journey to becoming a destination for excellence in research and education. It is especially reaffirming to have our progress and accomplishments recognized at the global level:

In the 2016/2017 QS World University Rankings released earlier this week, KAUST ranks #1 in Citations per Faculty. Other peer institutions in the top 10 include Princeton, UC Santa Barbara, and MIT.

This past July, the data-driven Nature Index of Rising Stars ranked KAUST #19 for the largest growth in high-quality research contributions among the world's universities.

Our accelerated growth and global performance is possible because of our extraordinary faculty, students and staff whose contributions allow us to aim high and pursue solutions to important issues with passion and purpose.

Thank you for contributing to our shared success, and I look forward to the great things we will accomplish together in the year ahead.
